This is a sign of politeness. The appropriate thing to do would be to eat the whatever-it-is and say how yummy it is. If you feel uncomfortable with this, you can just say a polite thank you and leave the food there.
Dont tap on your bowl with your chopsticks.Beggars tap on their bowls, so this is not polite. Also, when the food is coming too slow in a restarant, people will tap their bowls. If you are in someones home,it is like insulting the cook.

Every Chinese, who experienced 1980s, will remember forever the day November 6th 1981 when the China National Women's Volleyball Team defeated the Japan National Team (the so-called "Toyo Women Magic") with 3 to 2 at the 3rd World Women's Volleyball Cup in Osaka Japan. That's the first world title for China Women's Volleyball Team. Everyone was shocked by this news. At that time, China had just been out of the "Cultural Revolution". When the news was broadcasted, people burst into joyful tears.
Their victory was the result of all the former volleyball players' effort. In 1965,a famous coach of Japan was invited to China to help train the China National Women's Volleyball Team. Seeing both the players' conscientious and spirit and the support from the Chinese people, he exclaimed, "I'm sure that the China National Women's Volleyball Team will become strong!"
In 1982, the China National Women's Volleyball Team won the gold medal again at the World Women's Volleyball Championships in Peru under the leadership of Yuan Weimin.
In August 1984, the China National Women's Volleyball Team defeated successively the Japan National Team and the US National Team with 3 to 0, and won the gold medal again at the 23rd Olympic Games, which realized the "Triple Crown" dream at the world matches. The pride head coach of Japan National Team said, "Defeating China National Team is equal to block the Yangtze River. Both are impossible." The American coach said, "I hope our children will play basketball as well as the Chinese girls."
The elder players gradually retired after 1985. Then Lang Ping, the World No.1 Spiker at that time, was named the captain. She and her teammates went to Japan to join in the 4th World Cup, and won the title for the 4th time without losing any match.
Two years later, the China National Women's Volleyball Team came to the 14th World Women's Volleyball Team Championships. Though the famous players, such as the "Iron Girl" Cao Huiying, the "Iron Hammer" Lang Ping, the "Wall of Tian An Men Rostrum" Zhou Xiaolan, and the "Quick Attacker" Zhang Rongfang, had retired, the Chinese girls still won the gold medal by their strength and wisdom. The "Penta Crown" shocked the world. What a miracle!
The "Penta Crown" is not only a great honor, but also an ever spur. It has become the spirit of the China National Women's Volleyball Team. At present, the China National Women's Volleyball Team has become a symbol of striving and competing in Chinese people's hearts.
As the fast development of other countries' volleyball career, the China National Women's Volleyball Team had lost parts of their advantages for a period. In early 1995, Lang Ping, the former core player of the "Penta Crown" team, became the head coach of the Chinese National Team. Though it's very hard to train these young players in such a short time, she made it. The China National Women's Volleyball Team won the bronze medals at the 7th World Cups at the end of 1995. Then they won the silver medals at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996, and the gold medals at the 13th Asian Games in 1998. The China National Women's Volleyball Team became the No.1 in Asian again. What's more, they made a greater miracle at the Athens Olympic Games in 20xx. These young girls defeated the rival in a very disadvantaged situation and won the gold medals finally, which were the bestaffirmation for their previous hard work.
Along with Reform and Opening up Policy's carrying on and the Spirit of the National Women's Volleyball Team, volleyball had spread in all parts of China. You can find people playing volleyball everywhere, not only in the residential areas and the countryside, but also in schools and factories. The Beijing 20xx Olympic Games render a nationwide movement of body-building in China. Meanwhile, it serves more chances for the sports events development including the volleyball in China.

The Great Wall of China is called the "Ten-thousand-Ii Great Wall" in Chinese. In fact, it's more than 6000 kilometres long. It winds its way from west to east, across deserts, over mountains, through valleys till at last it reaches the sea. It is one of the wonders of the world.
The Great Wall has a history of over twenty centuries. The first part of it was built during the Spring and Autumn Period. During the Warring States Period, more walls were put up to defend the borders of the different kingdoms. It was during the Qin Dynasty that the kingdom of Qin united the different parts into one empire. To keep the enemy out of his empire, Emperor Qin Shi Huang had all the walls joined up.Thus, the Great Wall came into being.
The Great Wall is wide enough at the top for five horses or ten men to walk side by side. Along the wall are watchtow-ers, where soldiers used to keep watch. Fires were lit on the the towers as a warning when the enemy came.
It was very difficult to build such a wall in the ancient days without any modern machines. All the work was done by hand. Thousands of men died and were buried under the wall they built. The Great Wall was made not only of stone and earth, but of the flesh and blood of millions of men.
Today the Great Wall has become a place of interest not only to the Chinese but to people from all over the world. Many of them have come to know the famous Chinese saying: "He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man."

关于介绍中国的英语作文 篇19
The Great Wall is a symbol of China. Far from the majestic wall, like a long dragon winding between mountains and mountains, from shanhaiguan to jiayuguan, there are more than 13,000!
From Beijing, only a few tens of kilometers can reach the foot of the Great Wall. Ah, the Great Wall is long and long, at first sight, as if the giant snake lay on the mountains to rest. The Great Wall is made of many stone and brick. The top was paved with square bricks, and it was as neat as a broad road, and five or six horses could walk abreast.
Outside walls along the rows of buttress has two meters high, above the square at the mouth and the nozzle, for observation and shooting, and on the top of the wall, a ChengTai every few hundred meters - ancient war can mutual echo.
Standing on the Great Wall, it is natural to think of the ancient working people who built the Great Wall. If you look at the stone, it weighs two or three kilograms. There were few tools at that time, and it was only by the hands of countless people on the shoulders of countless people, and one by one, they lifted up the steep mountains. The blood sweat and wisdom of the working people, the Great Wall of the Great Wall, which has not been seen before, is not seen. Such a magnificent project is a great miracle!
As the saying goes, "no Great Wall is not good", today, I finally got to the badaling Great Wall.
This afternoon, we took the bus to the foot of badaling. When the tour guide asked me whether I would climb up or take a block, my friends and I decided to climb up! Because we feel that; Climb up, you can be a real good man!
We came to the foot of the mountain and began to climb. Along the winding road, we climbed, one side according to the phase. Looking at the endless wall, my mind is full of thoughts. Touching the old wall gently, I saw the working people building the Great Wall. This is the Great Wall after thousands of years of wind and rain. I can't help Shouting: "Great Wall, I love you! Great Wall, I'm coming!"
Back to reality, we started to climb the Great Wall again. We climbed happily, and then, suddenly, we came across a steep road, which was probably steeper than the tiandu peak. We were crawling and panting. We were so tired that we sat down on the railings for a while. With such perseverance, we finally climbed to the highest point of the badaling Great Wall, which is 888 meters high. On the han slope, we clapped each other's hands and took pictures without any concern for the fatigue. Finally, I got a good Chinese card. Looking at the words "not the Great Wall", I could not help Shouting, "oh, I finally made it to the Great Wall!"
